[002] – The St. Nikolaas Church – AD1887 –

This cathedral-sized, neo-baroque style church designed by A. C. Bleijs, dominates its surroundings despite the fact that its is bordered by quite "ordinary" houses and a hotel!  In a niche in the upper front facade is a statue of St. Nicholas (Sint Nikolaas), the patron saint of the City of Amsterdam and of seamen and children.
